The Interaction Between Nietzsche’s The Birth of Tragedy and Rhetorical Performance : Emotional Persuasion and the Perspective of Musical Rhetoric

본 연구는 니체의 예술철학을 바탕으로 음악 연주에서 아폴론적 질서와 디오니소스적 자유가 어떻게 구현되고 상호작용하는지를 분석하였다. 바흐의 푸가 및 수난곡, 헨델의 오라토리오를 중심으로 각 원리가 음악적 구조와 감정적 표현에서 실현되는 방식을 고찰하였다. 이러한 분석을 통해 아폴론적 질서와 디오니소스적 해방이 대립이 아닌 상호 보완적 관계 속에서 균형을 이루며, 연주자가 두 요소를 통합함으로써 보다 설득력 있는 음악적 해석을 실현할 수 있음을 제시하였다. 또한, 이를 통해 연주자가 단순한 악보 해석을 넘어 감정적 서사를 구축하고 청중과 직접적으로 소통하는 과정이 강조될 수 있음을 논증하였다. 본 연구는 리토릭적 연주의 미학적 가치를 조명하며, 연주 미학의 이론적 토대를 확장하고, 음악 해석의 다층적 접근법을 제시하는 데 기여할 것이다.

This study analyzes how Apollonian-Dionysian are realized and interact in musical performance based on Nietzsche’s philosophy of art. Focus on Bach’s fugues and Passions, as well as Handel’s oratorios, it examines how these principles manifest in musical structure and emotional expression. Through this analysis, the study demonstrates that Apollonian order and Dionysian liberation are not opposing forces but rather complementary elements that achieve balance, allowing performers to integrate both aspects for a more persuasive musical interpretation. Furthermore, it argues that this approach enables performers to move beyond mere score interpretation, constructing emotional narratives and fostering direct communication with the audience. By highlighting the aesthetic value of rhetorical performance, this study contributes to expanding the theoretical foundation of performance aesthetics and proposes a multidimensional approach to musical interpretation.
