교수자 커뮤니케이션, 라포, 대학 평판이 전공 만족도, 이탈의도에 미치는 영향 : 지역 대학생을 중심으로

A Study on the Effect of instructor communication and rapport, and university reputation factors on major satisfaction and university abandonment intention : Focusing on local college students

학령인구의 감소 속에서 지역 대학의 위기가 커지고 있다. 이에 따라 학습자들의 전공 만족도를 높이고, 대학 이탈을 막기 위한 대학의 노력도 이루어지고 있다. 그러나 커뮤니케이션의 관점에서 지역 대학생들의 전공 만족도를 높이고 이탈을 예방하기 위한 목적으로 진행된 실증연구는 많지 않다. 이에 이 연구는 지역 대학생 280명을 대상으로 교수자의 커뮤니케이션 요인과 교수자와 학습자 간 커뮤니케이션 과정에서 형성되는 라포, 대학 평판 요인을 활용하여 전공 만족도와 대학 이탈의도 결정요인을 확인해 내 보고자 했다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 지역 대학 대학생들의 대학 전공 만족도에 영향을 미치는 변인은 학업 성취도, 교수자의 언어적 명료성, 교수 역량과 대학시스템의 질이었다. 둘째, 지역 대학생들의 대학 이탈의도에 영향을 미치는 변인은 남성, 학년(-), 사립대 재학생, 교수자의 언어적 명료성(-), 발전성(-), 사회적 책임(-), 대학 전공 만족도(-)였다. 이 연구는 이상의 결과를 바탕으로 지역 대학생의 전공 만족도를 높이고, 대학 이탈의도를 막을 수 있는 전략을 제시했다.

A declining school-age population is creating a crisis for local colleges and universities. In response, universities are working to increase student satisfaction with their majors and prevent student attrition. However, there has been little empirical research in the field of communication to increase major satisfaction and prevent attrition among local college students. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the determinants of major satisfaction and withdrawal intention by utilizing instructor communication factors, rapport formed during the communication process between instructors and learners, and university reputation factors among 280 rural university students. First, the study found that academic achievement, linguistic clarity of instructors, teaching competence, and the quality of the university system are variables that influence local university students’ satisfaction with their university majors. Second, the variables that influence the intention to leave college for domestic college students are male, grades (-), attending a private university, professor’s linguistic clarity (-), progression (-), university’s social responsibility (-), and satisfaction with college major (-). Based on the above findings, this study proposes a strategy to increase major satisfaction and prevent dropout among rural university students.
