‘-겠다’ 인과의 의식과학적 설명 : ‘-어서’, ‘-니까’와의 비교를 중심으로

A Consciousness Science Approach to the Causality of ‘-getta’ : Focusing on the Comparison with ‘-eoseo’ and ‘-nikka’

본고는 ‘-겠다’가 인과 접속의 기능을 가진 연결어미인 것을 논증하고, 그 세부적인 면모를 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 본고는 의식과학의 연구 성과를 인과를 설명하는 데 활용하였다. 이 작업은 ‘-어서’와 ‘-니까’와의 비교를 통해 이루어진다. ‘-겠다’는 ‘-니까’와 동류이고, ‘-어서’와는 그 성질이 다르다. ‘-어서’는 사건을 기반으로 한 인과를 나타내는 데 사용되며, 현상 의식 차원에서 주로 작동한다. ‘-니까’는 명제를 기반으로 한 인과를 나타내는 데 사용되며, 반성 의식 차원에서 작동한다. 반성 의식 차원에서 작업기억은 의미기억에서 개념 화자가 수행하는 ‘판단, 추측, 예측, 제안, 명령’ 등의 근거를 탐색한다. ‘-니까’ 인과는 함축적으로 그 근거가 하나인 것으로 해석되고, ‘-겠다’ 인과는 대안집합이 설정되어 해당 근거가 둘 이상인 것으로 해석된다.

This study aims to demonstrate that ‘-getta’ functions as a conjunctive ending with causal connective properties and to explore its detailed aspects. To this end, the study utilizes findings from consciousness science to explain causality. This analysis is conducted through a comparison with ‘-eoseo’ and ‘-nikka’ The results indicate that ‘-getta’ is similar to ‘-nikka’ but differs from ‘-eoseo’. The ending ‘-eoseo’ is used to express event-based causality, primarily operating at the level of phenomenal consciousness. In contrast, ‘-nikka’ expresses proposition-based causality and functions at the level of reflective consciousness. At this level, working memory searches for grounds for conceptual judgments such as “evaluation, inference, prediction, suggestion, and command” within semantic memory. While ‘-nikka’ causality is implicitly interpreted as having a single ground, ‘-getta’ causality establishes an alternative set, allowing for multiple grounds.
