Journal of musicological studies Vol.2 No.1.jpg

As one of the most representative instrumental music genres in Europe from the 17th to the 18th century, the suite in the Baroque period is not only the pivot of the evolution of musical forms, but also the mirror image of social and cultural interactions. This paper takes the historical background of the Baroque period as a research point, and discusses the development process and characteristics of the Baroque period suite. The study points out that the standardised dance sequence of the suite (Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Gigue) is not only an innovation in musical structure, but also maps the court culture of the Baroque period, while the paper introduces the suite of Bach, the most representative composer of the Baroque period, in order to further understand the influence of the suite on the Western musical instruments.
