Objective Merits and Interdependent Preferences: A Game-Theoretic Analysis

경합에서 이기적 경기자는 자신의 보수뿐만 아니라 경쟁자의 보수에도 관심을 가질 수 있으며, 이는 주관적 효용(subjective utility)으로 나타날 수 있다. 이러한 경합에서 주요 관심사는 자원배분에 따른 감정(순수 이기심, 이타심, 시기심)의 분석이다. 먼저, 본 연구는 주요 선행연구를 요약한다. 다음으로, 본 연구는 각 경기자의 객관적 강점(objective merit)을 고려한 경합 모형을 소개하고, 객관적 강점이 균형 결과에 미치는 영향을 분석한다. 본 연구는 기존 연구를 보완하며, 객관적 강점을 감안하더라도 경기자들의 순수 이기심은 변하지 않는다는 사실을 입증한다.

In a contest, selfish players may be concerned not only about their own material payoffs but also about their rivals’ material payoffs, which can be represented as subjective utilities. The main focus in such a contest is the analysis on emotions (pure selfishness, altruism, envy) based on resource allocation. First, this study summarizes key previous research. Next, it introduces a contest model that considers the objective merits of each player and analyzes the impact of these objective merits on equilibrium outcomes. This study complements existing research and demonstrates that even when considering objective merits, the pure selfishness of players remains unchanged.
