Since its publication, “Zhuang Tai” has significantly influenced domestic readers and attracted international academic and cultural interest. The quality of its English translation, “The Backstage Clan,” is pivotal for narrating Shaanxi and Chinese stories effectively and for promoting Chinese culture globally. This paper explores the translation of cross-cultural elements in “Zhuang Tai” from a translation aesthetics perspective, analyzing the application of many different translation strategies and skills through case studies. It seeks a balance that retains the original’s cultural essence and aesthetic charm while achieving effective cross-cultural communication, illustrating the harmonious integration of aesthetic representation and cultural dissemination in translation. The study aims to contribute new insights into the international dissemination of Chinese culture and literature and to provide theoretical and practical references for the cross-cultural translation of literary works, fostering cultural exchange and cooperation, and promoting the widespread dissemination of China’s outstanding cultural heritage.
《装台》自出版以来,在国内产生了广泛影响,引起了国际学术与文化界的关注。其英译本(The Backstage Clan)质量对讲好陕西故事和中国故事,推动中国文化“走出去”具有重要意义。本文从翻译美学的视角出发,深入探讨《装台》中的跨文化元素的英译问题,通过具体案例分析,研究多种翻译策略与技巧在实践中的灵活应用,旨在探索一种平衡之道,即如何在保留原作文化精髓与美学韵味的同时,实现跨文化的有效沟通,展现翻译过程中审美再现与文化传播的和谐统一。通过本研究,希能为中华文化与文学作品的国际传播提供新的视角,为文学作品的跨文化翻译提供理论与实践参考,促进中外文化交流与合作,推动中华优秀文化的广泛传播。
