Deng Xiaoping’s Historical Contribution in Taking Over Shanghai

Taking over Shanghai was an important battle on the eve of the founding of New China. On May 6, 1949, Deng Xiaoping commanded the Chinese People's Liberation Army and the cadres who took over from the south to Danyang, making all-round preparations for taking over Shanghai in terms of ideology, military affairs, materials and organization; In the early days of taking over Shanghai, Deng Xiaoping led our army to win the “Silver Dollar Battle”, crush the Nationalist blockade, and consolidate the united front, making significant contributions to stabilizing and restoring the Shanghai economy. At a critical moment before the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the General Front Committee of the Crossing of the Yangtze River Campaign led by Deng Xiaoping and the East China Bureau of the Communist Party of China laid an important foundation for the reconstruction and development of Shanghai, and also made significant contributions to welcoming the establishment of the People’s Republic of China.

接管上海是新中国成立前夕的重要一战，1949 年5 月6 日，邓小平指挥中国人民解放军和南下接管干部进驻丹阳，为接管上海做了思想、军事、物资、组织等全方位的准备；接管上海初期邓小平领导我军打胜“银元之战”、粉碎国民党封锁、巩固统一战线，为稳定和恢复上海经济发挥了关键作用。在新中国成立前夕的紧要关头，以邓小平为首的渡江战役总前委、中共中央华东局为上海的重新建设和发展奠定了重要基础，也为迎接新中国的成立作出了重大贡献。
