『차라투스트라는 이렇게 말했다』의 ‘대지’에 관한 한 해석 - ‘대지의 뜻’에 이바지하는 인간에 초점을 맞춰

An Interpretation of ‘Earth’ in Thus Spoke Zarathustra: Focusing on Mankind Served to the Meaning of the Earth

대지의 뜻에 이바지하는 삶의 의미에 주안점을 두고 『차라투스트라』에 등장하는 대지에 대한 정합적인 해석을 통해서, 니체의 대지론에 관한 이해의 지평을 넓히려는 것이 논문의 목적이다. 이를 위해서 다음과 같은 절차를 밟았다. 먼저 ‘몸’에 관한 니체의 언급이 검토되었다. 이 과정에서 몸과 대지의 공통점(천상계의 생이 아니라 지상계의 생이 중요함)은 물론이고 차이점(자기 자신에등을 돌리는 몸과 달리 대지는 그렇지 않음)이 드러났다. 다음으로는 『차라투스투라』에서 등장하고 있는 대지 개념이 어떠한 의미들로 사용되고 있는가 하는 점이 고찰되었다. 이 고찰을 통해서 니체의 대지론에서, 미래의 대지, 달리말하면 ‘지구적 존재로서의 인간’의 미래 삶의 방향을 함축하고 있는 대지가 매우 중요한 의미를 담고 있다는 점이 밝혀졌다. 마지막으로 ‘대지에 충실한 삶’과‘대지의 뜻에 이바지하는 삶’의 차이 및 상보적 관계가 해명되었다. 이 해명을통해서 ‘지구적 존재로서의 인간’의 미래 삶과 관련하여, 그 삶에 방향을 설정하고, 그렇게 설정된 방향에 이바지하는 자, 달리 말하면 니체적 의미의 ‘인식하는자’를 배제하고, 니체 대지관을 논할 경우, 그것은 니체적 특성이 배제된 대지관으로 귀결될 가능성이 크다는 점이 논구되었다.

The purpose of this paper is to expand the horizon of understanding Nietzsche’s theory of the earth by providing a coherent interpretation of the concept of the earth in Thus Spoke Zarathustra, with a focus on a life that contributes to its meaning. To achieve this, the following steps were taken. First, Nietzsche’s remarks on the ‘body’ were examined. Through this process, both the commonalities (the importance of earthly life rather than celestial life) and the differences (unlike the body, which turns its back on itself, the earth does not) between the body and the earth were revealed. Next, an analysis was conducted on the various meanings of the concept of the earth as it appears in Thus Spoke Zarathustra. This analysis demonstrated that in Nietzsche’s concept of the earth, particularly the future direction of the earth, namely the future direction of life of human being as an earthly being holds significant philosophical importance. Finally, the distinction and complementary relationship between a ‘life faithful to the earth’ and a ‘life that contributes to the direction of the earth’ were clarified. Through this explanation, it has been discussed that when considering Nietzsche’s view of the earth in relation to the future life of humanity as a global being─while excluding those who set the direction for such a life and contribute to it, in other words, the knowers(das Erkennende) in the Nietzschean sense─there is a high possibility that the resulting view of the earth will be one devoid of Nietzschean characteristics.
