현대문법연구 제125호.jpg

This study examines the potential applications of Large Language Models (LLMs) in L2 pronunciation instruction, particularly within the framework of a communicative approach that integrates explicit pronunciation teaching. The article explores how LLMs may facilitate pronunciation practice through production exercises, listening activities, and the provision of explanations and examples of target L2 phonological features. Additionally, it discusses the tool’s limitations in pronunciation instruction, as well as potential challenges that both L2 learners and instructors may encounter when incorporating it into their teaching or learning practices. The findings suggest that LLMs can serve as a valuable supplementary resource within the broader repertoire of technology-assisted pronunciation tools. However, it should not be regarded as a substitute for formal instruction or interaction with teachers and proficient L1 or L2 speakers, both of which remain essential for the development of L2 pronunciation skills.
