한국어 연결 어미 ‘-(ㄴ/는)다고’의 의미 기능 연구

A Study on the Semantic Function of the Korean Connective Ending ‘ (n/neun)dago'

본 논문에서는 한국어 문법 교육의 관점으로 연결 어미 ‘ (ㄴ/는)다고’의 의미 기능에대해 살펴보았다. 이때 ‘간접 인용’의 의미와, 연결 어미로서의 ‘이유･원인, 의도･목적’ 의미 기능들 사이의 경계가 불분명하여 그 의미 해석에 주의를 기울여 구분할 필요가 있음에 주목하였다. 첫째, 국어사전, 한국어 문법 교육 자료, 한국어 교재 등에 제시된 연결 어미 ‘ (ㄴ/는) 다고’의 의미 기능을 검토하였다. 둘째, ‘ (ㄴ/는)다고’와 관련된 국어학적 연구 성과들에는 주로 문법화의 관점에서 ‘간접 인용’의 의미와 ‘이유･원인’, ‘의도･목적’ 등의 의미 사이에 연관성을 포착하려 했음을 확인하였다. 셋째, 한국어 교사는 ‘ (ㄴ/는)다고’의 교수 학습을 위해 그 의미 기능을 파악해야 함을 논의하였다. 특히 화자 중심적 관점에서는 ‘간접 인용’, 주어 중심적 관점에서는 ‘의도･목적’의 의미로 해석될 수 있었다. 넷째, ‘ (ㄴ/는)다고’와 그 의미 기능이 유사한 문법 항목과의 교체 양상에 대해 살펴보았다. 이때 선･후행절 사건 사이의 논리적･의미적 연결 관계가 중요함을 확인하였다. 다섯째, ‘ (ㄴ/는)다고’의 의미 기능들 사이에 나타나는 경계의 모호성을 살펴보았다.

In this study, I examined the semantic function of the Korean connective ending ‘-(n/neun)dago’ from the perspective of Korean grammar education. First, I reviewed the semantic function of connective ending ‘-(n/neun)dago’ presented in Korean dictionaries, Korean grammar education materials, and Korean textbooks. Second, I confirmed that the results of Korean linguistic research related to ‘-(n/neun)dago’ from the perspective of grammaticalization. Third, it was discussed that in order for Korean teachers to teach and learn ‘-(n/neun)dago’, they must first understand its semantic function. Fourth, I looked at the patterns of exchange between ‘-(n/neun)dago’ and grammatical items with similar semantic functions. Fifth, I looked at the ambiguity of the boundary between the semantic functions of the ‘-(n/neun)dago’. In the end, I can confirm that the semantic function of connective ending ‘-(n/neun)dago’ should be judged based on the logical and semantic relationship between the preceding and following clauses.
