Effects of pre-briefing on self-efficacy, simulation immersion, communication ability, simulation satisfaction, and teamwork in advanced life support training for nursing students

목적 프리브리핑은 시뮬레이션 기반 교육의 질을 향상시키는 데 중요한 과정으로 간주된다. 본 연구는 심화소생술(ALS) 교육에서 프리브리핑이 간호학생들의 자기효능감, 시뮬레이션 몰입도, 팀워크, 의사소통 능력, 그리고 시뮬레이션 만족도에 미치는 영향을 평가하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 방법 연구는 2023년 1월에 수행된 준실험 연구로, 비동등성 대조군 설계를 사용하였다. 연구 대상은 4학년 간호학생으로, 실험군(n=33)은 ALS 교육 전에 심전도(ECG) 해석을 포함한 프리브리핑을 받았고, 대조군(n=39)은 프리브리핑 없이 일반적인 ALS 교육만을 받았다. 주요 변수는 자기효능감, 시뮬레이션 몰입도, 팀워크, 의사소통 능력, 그리고 시뮬레이션 만족도로 설정하였으며, 두 집단 간 결과를 비교하였다. 결과 실험군은 대조군보다 ALS 자기효능감(t=2.952, p=.004), 시뮬레이션 몰입도(t=2.393, p=.019), 의사소통 능력(t=2.419, p=.018), 시뮬레이션 만족도(t=2.757, p=.008)에서 유의미하게 높은 점수를 보였다. 그러나 팀워크(t=1.529, p=.131)에서는 두 집단 간 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 결론 본 연구는 짧은 시간의 프리브리핑도 간호학생들의 자기효능감, 시뮬레이션 몰입도, 의사소통 능력, 그리고 시뮬레이션에 대한 전반적인 만족도를 유의미하게 향상시킬 수 있음을 보여준다. 향후 연구에서는 팀워크를 효과적으로 강화하기 위한 프리브리핑 전략과 이를 보완할 수 있는 교육적 접근법을 추가적으로 탐구할 필요가 있다.

Objectives A well-structured pre-briefing process is essential for enhancing the quality of simulation-based training. This study aims to examine the effects of pre-briefing on self-efficacy, simulation immersion, teamwork, communication ability, and satisfaction with simulation in the context of advanced life support (ALS) training. Methods Conducted in January 2023, this quasi-experimental study utilized a non-equivalent control group design with nursing students. The experimental group (n=33) received pre-briefing focusing on electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation before ALS training, while the control group (n=39) underwent ALS training without a pre-briefing. Key variables were measured and compared between the two groups. Results The experimental group exhibited significantly higher ALS self-efficacy (t=2.952, p = .004), simulation immersion (t=2.393, p = .019), communication ability (t=2.419, p = .018), and simulation satisfaction (t=2.757, p = .008) compared to the control group. However, no statistically significant difference was found in teamwork (t=1.529, p = .131). Conclusions Pre-briefing, even when brief, can positively impact nursing students' self-efficacy, immersion in simulation, communication skills, and overall satisfaction with the ALS training experience. Further studies are required to validate these findings and explore strategies to enhance teamwork through pre-briefing.
