Content Analysis of Nursing Students' Perceptions of Problem-Based Learning Class Experiences

Purpose: This study aimed to analyze nursing students' perceptions of their experiences with Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to provide foundational data for developing strategies to enhance the effectiveness of PBL education. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted with 250 third- and fourth-year nursing students from two nursing colleges in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. Results: Analysis of interview data on nursing students' perceptions of their PBL experiences revealed 19 categories and 76 significant statements across two domains: positive reinforcement and negative reinforcement. Conclusion: The findings of this study provide valuable insights for developing strategies and improvements to maximize the effectiveness of PBL education. They also offer significant implications for designing and implementing educational plans for the effective application of PBL in nursing education.
