Textless Trans-writing Chinese Revolutionary Stories and the Construction of the Image of the Communist Party: A Case Study of Red Dust by Helen Snow

The Red Dust, a collection of autobiographical accounts of the Communist Party of China (CPC) written by American journalist Helen Snow in her native language—English, is a typical work of “mother-tongue textless trans-writing” and the “partial self-trans-writing” referred to in this paper. Through the translation strategy of free translation, and the methods of transliteration and “thick trans-writing”, Helen Snow vividly portrays Chinese revolutionary stories rich in local characteristics and detailed background information. shaping the image of the CPC as one that dares to resist oppression, remains firm in its ideals and beliefs, and is deeply loved by the people.
