The purpose of this study was to analyze the safety accident status of marine leisure sports, which has been continuously increasing in participants in recent years, and to propose improvement measures. To achieve that, previous studies related to marine leisure sports safety accidents, reports published by related organizations, and suggestions from related experts were analyzed. As a result of the study, it has been reported that the number of water leisure accidents has continuously increased over the past five years. Among water leisure equipment, motorboat accidents were the most common, collision accidents were the most common, and operation negligence was the most common cause of accidents. In order to reduce safety accidents, it is necessary to approach them separately in terms of educational, legal and institutional, and infrastructural aspects. In terms of education, it is necessary to promote safety awareness and spread safety culture by strengthening safety education to participants in marine leisure sports, leaders, and operators. In terms of legal and institution, laws should be reorganized and actively promoted so that various laws related to marine leisure sports can be complementary and effective so that there is no confusion in legal knowledge or legal application. In terms of infrastructure, it is necessary to establish a safety infrastructure for marine sports in various aspects such as education, institutions, facilities, and equipment, and manage and operate it so that it can operate organically.
