A Study on the Pulse Pattern, Oblique Pulsation Method and Treatment Method of the Qikoujiudaomai Diagnosis of the Eight Extra Meridians : An Examination of the Gihanghoitong Therapy Based on the Zongkanmai Diagnosis Method of the Yixuerumen

Objectives : The purpose of this paper is to diagnose the pulse patterns of the Floating·Middle·Sunken Pulses within the three positions of Cun, Guan, Chi, that is used to identify the illness pattern of the Eight Extra Meridians. In addition, the Qikooujiudamai Diagnosis which is used to simultaneously examine both the main channels and branch channels assigned to 9 different positions was closely examined. Methods : In order to study the pulse patterns of the Floating, Tight, and Firm pulses of the Renmai(任脉), Dumai(督脉), and Chongmai(衝脈) in the Qikoujiudaomai Diagnosis, along with the pulse patterns of the left and right Tan pulses of the Yangqiaomai, Daimai, and Yinqiaomai, and those manifested in the Oblique pulsation method of the Yangweimai and Yinweimai, related papers were examined then applied in clinic for verification. Case studies were supplemented to papers on the Qikoujiudaomai Diagnosis for evidence on correspondence between theory and clinical application. Results & Conclusions : Once the pathological Qi flows over to the Eight Extra Meridians from the Twelve Meridians, illness of the extra meridian channels occurs. Based on the pulse pattern that appears in the Oblique pulsation method of the Yangweimai and Yinweimai, accurate acupuncture and moxa, medicinal treatment is possible. Moreover, the medical theory of the Qikoujiudaomai Diagnosis could be effective in the diagnosis and treatment of incurable and various chronic disease conditions, wherein diagnosis through Qikoujiudaomai and combination of acupuncture and moxibustion with medicinal formula could be very effective.
