Textual Criticism of Romans 14:19 and Its Exegesis

로마서 14:19는 Greek New Testament 5판의 로마서에서 유일하게 본문비평 등급이 {D}이다. GNT 3/4에서도 등급은 {D}였다. 이등급은 GNT 5의 편집자들 간에도 어떤 독법이 원본에 일치하는가를두고 의견이 분분했다는 의미이다. 로마서 14:19의 이문은 총 3개인데, 각각 가정법, 직설법, 그리고 명령법 동사이다. 그런데 이 구절의본문비평은 자세한 관심을 받은 바가 없고, 아예 다루지 않는 로마서주석들도 있다. 본 연구는 이런 미진한 연구의 틈새를 염두에 둔다. 이 글의 순서는 로마서 14:19의 외증(外證)과 내증(內證)을 차례로 먼저 연구한 후, 로마서의 기록목적과 주요 신학 그리고 상호텍스트(이하 간본문)에 비추어 본문비평을 탐구하여 합당한 비평 등급을 제시한다. 마지막으로 가장 원문에 가까운 독법을 반영하여 로마서 14:19 의 주해를 시도한다. 이 때 19절이 포함된 14:13-23의 구조에 대한학자들의 견해를 비평적으로 고려하면서 주해한다. 신약 그리스어성경의 본문비평은 전체 석의 과정의 출발점에 해당하는 작업인데, 간파하기 쉬운 그리스어 사본의 증거를 살피는 것을 넘어서 내증의철두철미한 탐구가 무엇보다 중요하다.

Romans 14:19 is the only verse which has {D} rating of textual criticism in the Letter to the Roman of UBS 5. Likewise, in GNT 3/4, its grade was {D}. There are three variant readings in Romans 14:19, each of which is a subjunctive, indicative, and imperative verb. However, the textual criticism of this passage has not received proper attention, and there are some commentaries that do not deal with it at all. This study takes into account the niche of such inexhaustible research. The procedural steps of this article are as follows. (1) a study on the external and internal evidences of Romans 14:19, (2) an investigation on 14:19 in the light of the writing purpose and the main theology of Romans, (3) the intertextuality of Romans 14:19, (4) an exegesis of Romans 14:19 in terms of structural analysis by reflecting the closest reading to the original text. At this time, the scholars’ views on the structure of 14:13-23 are critically evaluated. The Textual criticism of the Greek New Testament is the starting point of the whole process of the exegesis of Scripture. For the textual criticism, though the external evidence which delves into the weight of the Greek manuscripts is significant, above all else a thorough investigation of the internal evidence of each book is more important.
