Systematic Review of Research on English Education: Focus on Research Areas of Interest and Methodologies

The main purpose of this study is to review recent topical and methodological trends n Englisheducation published in 『English Language Teaching』 journal over the past 15 years (2010-2024). A total of 532 articles were selected and analyzed according to research area of interest and datacollection/analysis methods. The results of this review study are as follows. First, studies onteaching methods and educational psychology continue to be actively conducted. However, researchon teacher education has also been consistently carried out. Second, the study highlighted theevolving methodological landscape, demonstrating a persistent reliance on statistical analysis whileshowing fluctuations in qualitative and mixed-methods research. Overall, researchers in KoreanEnglish education have embraced a significant diversity of topics and research methods.
