Digital Transformation TypesIdentified by Cluster Analysis of the SW Convergence Survey

This study analyzed the digital transformation types of domestic companies using data from the SW Convergence Survey conducted over the past three years. The survey targeted 1,181 Korean companies across nine major industries, collecting data on critical factors driving digital transformation, such as workforce, investment levels, and technological capabilities. These data provided a comprehensive understanding of the current state of digital transformation among the surveyed companies. The analysis employed the k-means clustering method to classify the companies into four distinct groups. This clustering approach allowed for the identification of unique characteristics within each type of digital transformation, offering valuable insights into the specific development trajectories and strategic orientations of the groups. By identifying the distinctive traits and trends of each cluster, the study provides essential groundwork for designing tailored support strategies. Additionally, the clustering results reveal how companies navigate their digital transformation pathways, offering practical guidance to both government and industry for planning effective support programs and fostering collaborative initiatives.
