이 글은 『주역』의 동인괘( 同人卦 )에 나타난 우정의 철학을 고찰하고, 특 히 다산 정약용의 『주역사전』에 나타난 동인괘 해석을 분석한다. 동인괘는 사람들 간의 화합과 소통을 강조하며, 특히 ‘선호도이후소( 先號咷而後笑 )’ 라는 효사를 통해 초기 갈등 이후에 이루어지는 진정한 화합의 과정을 제시 한다. 다산 정약용은 이를 상수학적 방법으로 해석하여 ‘이인동심 기리단금 ( 二人同心 其利斷金 )’의 의미를 구체화하고, 마음을 합칠 때 강력한 힘과 향기로운 덕성이 나타남을 강조하였다. 다산은 또한 사적 모임과 공적 모임 의 개념을 통해 동인의 의미를 개인적 차원을 넘어 사회적·국가적 차원으로 확장하였다.

This study examines the philosophy of friendship presented in the Dongin hexagram ( 同人卦 ) of the Book of Changes (Zhou Yi), with a particular focus on Jeong Yak-yong’s interpretation found in his Jooyeoksajeon ( 周易四箋 ). The Dong-in hexagram emphasizes harmony and communication among people, especially through the interpretation of the line statement ‘first weep and lament, but afterward they laugh ( 先號咷而後笑 )’, illustrating the process of genuine reconciliation after initial conflicts. Jeong Yak-yong explicated this concept through numerological methods ( 象數學 ), highlighting the profound meaning of ‘when two people are at one in their inmost hearts, they shatter even the strength of iron or of bronze ( 二人同心 其利斷金 )’, emphasizing the immense power and virtuous character that emerge when people unify their hearts. Jeong also differentiated private gatherings from public assemblies, expanding the notion of Dong-in from an individual to a societal and national dimension.
