AN Analysis of Research Trends in NIE (Newspaper In Education)

이 연구는 NIE의 연구 동향을 파악함으로써 NIE가 나아갈 방향을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 분석 대상은 KCI에 등재된 NIE 관련 학술논문 294편과 박사학위논문 27편, 석사학위논문 784편, 총 1,105편으로 하였다. 분석 대상을 연구 목적, 연구 대상, 연구 과목, 연구 방법으로 나누어 분석을 진행한 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, NIE의 변천 과정을‘성장기’,‘절정기’,‘전환기’로 구분할 필요가 있다. 둘째, AI 디지털 전환 시대로의 흐름에 맞춰 NIE(Newspaper In Education, 신문활용교육을)을, MIE(Media In Education, 미디어활용교육)으로 재개념화 해나가는 학문적 논의가 이루어져야 한다. 셋째, NIE 관련 연구가 양적성장을 넘어 질적성장으로 나아가려면 다양한 연구 방법을 바탕으로 한 연구가 이루어져야 한다. 이러한 연구 결과는 시대의 흐름에 맞춰 NIE가 나아갈 방향을 모색하는 데 시사점을 제공한다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze research trends in NIE (Newspaper in Education) and suggest directions for its future development. The analysis covers a total of 1,105 academic papers, including 294 NIE-related journal articles registered in KCI, 27 doctoral dissertations, and 784 master's theses. The research subjects were analyzed based on research purpose, research target, research subject, and research methodology. The key findings are as follows: First, the development of NIE should be classified into three phases—‘growth phase,’ ‘peak phase,’ and ‘transition phase.’ Second, in response to the AI-driven digital transformation era, academic discussions should focus on redefining NIE as MIE (Media in Education). Third, to ensure qualitative growth beyond quantitative expansion, NIE-related studies must employ diverse research methodologies. These findings provide implications for identifying the future direction of NIE in alignment with the evolving educational landscape.
