Trade in mechanical and electrical products has always been an important part of world trade, not only in China's foreign trade occupies the first place, but also in the China-Japan trade ratio ranked first. China- Japan trade in mechanical and electrical products has been developing in a good direction in the past decade or so, but it has been in the state of trade deficit, and there is still a lot of room for improvement in the export of mechanical and electrical products to Japan, so it is very important to study the China-Japan trade in mechanical and electrical products. In the context of the official implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP), the trade of mechanical and electrical products between China and Japan has been taken to a higher level. Selecting the ten-year data from 2014-2023, we analyze the overview of China-Japan trade in mechanical and electrical products from the aspects of trade scale and trade structure, calculate and analyze the competitiveness index of China-Japan trade in mechanical and electrical products and the complementarity index, etc., and then study the development direction of China-Japan trade in mechanical and electrical products, and put forward suggestions in combination with the characteristics of the China-Japan trade in mechanical and electrical products, to promote the trade in mechanical and electrical products between China and Japan in the background of the RCEP.
