교양교과목 연계 범교과적 글쓰기(WAC)의 교육 효과 분석 - 『현대 일본의 이해』 수업 서술형 시험을 중심으로

Analysis on Educational Effectiveness of Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) in Liberal Arts Classes : Focusing on Writing Exams in the Class “Understanding on Contemporary Japan”

The purpose of this study is to apply the WAC (Writing Across the Curriculum) strategy to writing tests in liberal arts classes and to verify its effectiveness. To this end, education on the WAC for writing exams was implemented in one of Japanese liberal arts classes, “Understanding Contemporary Japan” at S University. The subjects were 48 students, and they learned how to create descriptive test questions and write answers on the given topics four class times. The effect of the WAC was verified by students’ WAC performance results, achievement scores, and student satisfaction surveys. First, the results of the study show that the writing performance level was gradually increased. Second, there was a significant difference in each semester’s descriptive test scores, and, finally, the satisfaction survey results revealed that the WAC was useful for students to understand and remember class content, and prepare for descriptive answers. Therefore, the WAC was not only effective for learning the class subject but also for improving writing skills such as answering to descriptive exam questions.

本研究の目的は、大学の教養科目に記述型試験へのWAC(Writing Across Curriculum)教育を適用し、その有効性を検証することである。そのために、S大学の教養科目の「現代日本の理解」の授業で記述型試験に対するWAC教育を実施した。研究対象は48名の学生で、記述型試験へのWAC教育は、授業内容に関連したトピックについて記述型試験問題を出して答案を作成することであった。WAC教育は4回実施され、記述型試験へのWACの遂行とその達成度、また満足度調査の結果を分析して教養科目連携WACの教育的効果を検証した。研究の結果は以下の通りである。第一に、WACの実施結果、作文の遂行点数は徐々に上昇した。第二に、達成度分析の結果、学期による記述型試験の得点には有意差が見られた。第三に、満足度調査の結果、WAC教育は授業内容の理解や記憶、試験準備などに有用であった。WAC教育は、教科の学習だけでなく、記述型試験の答案作成という作文能力の向上にも効果的であった。
