감성 어포던스 기반 생성디자인에서의 소비자 선호와 심성모형화에 관한 연구 - 의자 디자인의 심미성과 선호도를 중심으로

A study on consumer preference and mental modeling in generative design based on emotional affordance : Focusing on the aesthetics and preference of chair design

오늘날 생성디자인은 단순한 형상 생성의 차원을 넘어, 인공지능 기술을 활용한 사용자 중심 설계로 진화하고 있다. 특히 제품 및 공간 디자인에서 물리적 기능과 더불어 사용자 감성 경험이 중요한 경쟁 요소로 부각되며, 감성 어포던스 이론이 새롭게 주목받고 있다. 본 연구는 생성디자인이 의자 디자인의 감성적 설계 요소를 어떻게 수용할 수 있는지를 규명하고자 하였으며, 감성 어포던스와 심성모형화 개념을 기반으로 소비자의 감성 반응과 선호도를 분석하였다. 웹 기반 데이터 수집, 텍스트 마이닝, 정량 설문조사를 통해 감성 어포던스 요소를 유형화하고, 이들이 소비자의 심미성, 선호도 판단에 어떻게 영향을 미치는지를 실증적으로 고찰하였다. 연구 결과, 의자디자인 사례 가운데 수직형 구조와 구속조건 기반의 모델링, 자연 소재, 조각적 형식미는 선호도와 감성적 안정성에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 위상최적화 기반 고복잡 디자인은 예측 불가능성과 인지적 불편을 유발할 가능성이 확인되었다. 본 연구는 생성디자인이 기술 기반 자동화를 넘어 감성 중심 UX 설계로 확장될 수 있음을 시사하며, AI 기반 디자인 시스템의 인간 중심적 진화를 위한 기초 이론 및 설계 지침으로 활용될 수 있다.

As generative design evolves beyond shape automation toward user-centered approaches powered by artificial intelligence, emotional value becomes a critical differentiator in product and spatial design. This study investigates how emotional affordance and mental modeling theories can inform emotionally resonant generative design strategies. Using a mixed-methods approach—including web-based data crawling, text mining, and quantitative user surveys—this research identifies and categorizes key emotional affordance factors and examines their influence on consumer preference and aesthetic judgment. The results reveal that vertically structured forms, constraint-based modeling, natural materials, and sculptural aesthetics are positively correlated with emotional appeal and perceived usability. In contrast, highly complex and topology-optimized designs may trigger cognitive dissonance or discomfort due to their unpredictability. This study contributes to the theoretical foundation for emotion-driven generative design and offers actionable insights for AI-powered UX systems seeking to incorporate affective design principles in early-stage development.
