공생으로부터 출발하는 공감을 위하여: 들뢰즈의 <이것임>, D.H. 로렌스의 <함께 느낌>, 그리고 <노란봉투 캠페인>

Toward Sympathy Starting from Symbiosis: Deleuze’s Thisness, D.H. Lawrence’s Feeling with, and Yellow Envelope Campaign

이 연구는 기존의 심리학적 공감 이론이 가진 인간종 예외주의나 우월주의적인 면모를비판적으로 바라보면서, 비장애 어른 인간만이 가진 고도의 인지적 능력이 아니라 지각의관점에서 접근하여 ‘인간과 비인간을 아우르는 공감 이론’의 가능성을 모색하려는 시도이다. 이를 위해, 이 연구는 ‘공생적 동맹’의 관점에서 동물-되기와 인간 너머의 지각으로 향하는 들뢰즈의 후기 지각 이론을 숙고하고, 지각의 분자적인 것-되기 과정에서 나오는‘<이것임>의 파악’을 프란스 드 발의 “비인지적 염려”와 연관시킨다. 더 나아가, D.H. 로렌스의 공감, 즉 “함께 느낌”에 <이것임>의 파악과 같은 미묘한 지각이 있음을 포착하고, 이전체를 ‘공생적 공감’으로 부르고자 한다. 마지막으로, 이 연구는 우리 사회 안에서 자발적이고 즉각적인 시민사회 운동을 이끈 <노란봉투 캠페인>에서 사람들 사이의 공생적 공감을 발견하며, 이를 인간과 비인간을 아우르는 공감의 새로운 가능성을 보여주는 사례로서제시한다.

This study critically examines the aspects of human species exceptionalism or superiority in the existing psychological empathy theory, and attempts to explore the possibility of a ‘theory of sympathy that encompasses humans and non-humans’ by approaching it from the perspective of perception rather than of the advanced cognitive ability that only non-disabled human adults possess. For this purpose, this research, considering Deleuze’s later theory of perception, which moves toward becoming-animal and perception beyond humans in the perspective of ‘symbiotic alliance’, connects the ‘prehension of thisness(haecceity )’ that comes from the process of becoming-molecular of perception with Frans de Waal’s “preconcern”. Furthermore, this study captures the subtle perception such as the prehension of thisness(haecceity ) in D.H. Lawrence’s “Feeling with”, and proposes to call these tout ensemble ‘Symbiotic Sympathy’. And finally, examining as a Korean case, the <Yellow Envelope Campaign>, which led a spontaneous and immediate civil society movement in South Korea, this article catches much of symbiotic sympathies between people who participated in this campaign, and presents it as a case that shows the new possibility of sympathy encompassing humans and non-humans.
