삽교(霅橋) 안석경(安錫儆)의 강원도 생활공간과 공간 인식

Ahn Seok-kyung's Awareness of Gangwon-do Living Space

본고는 삽교(霅橋) 안석경(安錫儆, 1718∼1774)의 강원도 정착과 그 배경을 밝히고 강원도 생활공간에 대한 안석경의 인식을 살펴본 것이다. 안석경은 20대 초반까지 충주의 가흥과 서울에 살았고, 청·장년기에는 원주의 흥원과 손곡에 거주하였으며, 만년에는 횡성의 삽교에 정착하였다. 원주의 흥원으로 이주한 것은 아버지를 따라 온 것이지만, 원주의 손곡과 횡성의 삽교를 터전으로 삼은 것은 전적으로 안석경의 선택이었다. 안석경이 강원도에 정착한 데에는 대명의리를 위한 출사 거부 의식, 아버지 안중관의 지인이었던 이병연과 김상리의 영향, 안석경 본인의 방달불기한 기질 등이 영향을 미쳤다. 특히 강원도가 지닌 지리적·인문적 특성이 크게 작용하였다. 안석경에게 강원도 원주 지역은 응속과 탈속의 교차지였다. 강원도 원주의 흥원에 살면서 과거시험에 여러 차례 응시하며 시속에 일정정도 대응을 하였다. 아버지 사후에는 과거시험을 포기하고 원주 손곡으로 이주하여 은거 생활을 한다. 손곡에 거주하면서도 더욱 조용한 장소를 찾던 안석경은 횡성 삽교로 이주하였고 이곳에서 생을 마감하였다. 안석경에게 횡성의 삽교는 세속과 떨어져 청신하면서도 생계를 꾸릴 수 있어 안온한 정착지였다. 본고는 안석경이 강원도의 원주와 횡성에 정착한 이유를 다양한 측면에서 밝히고, 조선후기 강원도의 지리적·인문적 특성과의 관계 속에서 안석경의 강원도 인식과 문학을 재조명하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

In this paper, I examined Ahn Seok-kyung (1718-1774)'s settlement in Gangwon-do and its background, and analyzed his perception of Gangwon-do living spaces in his literature. Ahn Seok-kyung moved to Heungwon in Wonju, Gangwon-do, following his father. After his father's death, he moved to Songok in Wonju, and later settled in Sapgyo in Hoengseong. His settlement in Gangwon-do was influenced by the ritual of refusing to hold a government post based on loyalty to the Ming Dynasty, the influence of Lee Byung-yeon and Kim Sang-ri, who lived a secular life as acquaintances of his father, and his free-spirited temperament. In particular, the geographical and humanistic characteristics of Gangwon-do played a major role. For Ahn Seok-kyung, Wonju, Gangwon-do, was an intersection where he wanted to escape the world while responding to it. While living in the Heungwon of Wonju, he had the intention to enter a government post by taking several past exams, while after moving to Songok of Wonju, he completely abandoned his will to the secular world. Hoengseong's Sapgyo, which lived in his later years, established a peaceful settlement where he could quietly explore his studies and earn a comfortable living, completely separated from the secular world. This thesis is meaningful in that it reveals the reason Ahn Seok-kyung settled in Gangwon-do in various aspects and re-examines his perception of Gangwon-do in the relationship with its geographical and humanistic characteristics in the late Joseon Dynasty.
