COVID-19 전후에 나타난 청소년 정신건강 문제와 사이버불링의 구조적 관계

The Structural Relationship Between Adolescent Mental Health Problems and Cyberbullying Before and After COVID-19

이 연구는 COVID-19 전, 후 시기를 중심으로 청소년들의 내면화, 외현화 문제의 상호관계성과다양한 사이버불링 유형의 구조적 관계를 검증하고자 한다. 이를 위해 아동·청소년패널조사(Korean Children and Youth Panel Study: KCYPS) 자료를 활용하여 2차 데이터 분석을 실시하였다. 구체적 으로 15세(2019년)의 내면화와 외현화 행동, 16세(2020년)의 사이버불링(사이버비방, 사이버스토킹·감옥, 사이버 개인정보침해, 사이버갈취·명령, 사이버불링 기타유형), 그리고 17세(2021년)의 내면화, 외현화 행동의 상호관계성을 검증하는 경로모형(Path model)을 설정하였다. 주요한 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청소년들이 15세였던 2019년의 내면화, 외현화 정신건강 문제는 2년 후(17세, 2021년)에도 이어지는 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 청소년들이 15살이었던 2019년의 외현화 정신건강 문제는 16세가 되는 2020년의 사이버비방에 유의한 정(+)적 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 청소년들이 16세였던 2020년의 사이버비방 경험은 17세가 되던 2021년의 외현화 문제를 유의하게 예측했다. 이러한 분석결과를 기반으로, 청소년들의 만성적인 정신건강 문제를 개선하고, 정신건강 문제와 사이버불링의 악순환적인 관계를 단절시킬 수 있는 몇 가지의 방안을 제시하였다.

This study examines the interrelationship between internalizing and externalizing behaviors among adolescents and various types of cyberbullying, both before and after the COVID-19. Secondary data analysis was conducted using the Korean Children and Youth Panel Study (KCYPS) dataset. Specifically, a path model was conducted to investigate the connections between internalizing and externalizing behaviors of adolescents at age 15 in 2019, their cyberbullying experiences at age 16 in 2020, and their internalizing and externalizing behaviors at age 17 in 2021. The key findings are as follows: First, the internalizing problem observed in adolescents at age 15 significantly influenced both internalizing and externalizing problem at age 17. In addition, externalizing problem at 15 impacted externalizing problem at 17. Second, the externalizing problem at age 15 influenced their cyberbullying experiences at age 16, which in turn predicted their externalizing problem at age 17. Basesd on thee findings, several suggestions are proposed to address chronic mental health issues among adolescents and to disrupt the harmful cycle between mental health problems and cyberbullying.
