Research on Peace Culture Communication Strategies of the Former Site of the Weixian Internment Camp for Westerners

This paper takes Weifang’s recognition as an “International City of Peace” as the starting point to explore the former site of the Weixian Internment Camp for Westerners, an important historical heritage site that embodies both the memory of historical trauma and the value of cross-cultural coexistence. As a comprehensive site integrating medical care, education, and religion, the Weixian Internment Camp once bore the heavy memory of war and testified to both its cruelty and the brilliance of humanity. Today, it has become a vital cultural symbol of Weifang as an international city of peace. The cultural dissemination of this site plays a significant role in promoting the development of international peace initiatives. This study delves into various peace culture communication strategies related to the site, including the development of literary works, production of multilingual story videos, establishment of international cooperation mechanisms, planning of cultural tourism routes, and implementation of peace education. These approaches aim to transform cultural resources into momentum for building an international city of peace. Promoting the international communication of the Weixian Internment Camp site offers a valuable opportunity to tell the story of Weifang and spread the message of peace.
