This paper adopts the frameworks of reception aesthetics and subcultural theory to explore how high school students in the digital age cognitively reconstruct the image of Hamlet. The study finds that Hamlet, originally a symbol of humanist contradictions during the Renaissance, has undergone a paradigm shift under the combined influence of short video dissemination, educational simplification, and youth subcultures—from a noble tragic protagonist to “a symbol of sang culture”. His philosophical introspection has been reduced to nihilistic online memes, and his delayed actions are projected as a form of collective unconscious resistance to societal overcompetition. This reconstruction is not only a dynamic reinterpretation of a classic text across generations, but also a cultural symptom of social transformation: the fragmented dissemination of digital media strips away historical context, the utilitarian interpretation within educational settings weakens its critical dimension, and youth communities appropriate the symbol to express resistance and construct identity.
