This study developed a validity evaluation rubric for performance assessment items in elementary English (grades 5-6). Applied to 50 assessment items from 2021 to 2023, the rubric aimed to enhance classroom applicability and content validity. The analysis showed that while most items were appropriate, some lacked alignment with achievement standards or necessary components, and scoring criteria often failed to include detailed feedback. Furthermore, there was no evidence of student participation in rubric development, highlighting the need for more inclusive assessment practices. The study emphasizes that the rubric should function as a reflective tool for teachers rather than a rigid scoring system. Additionally, assessment criteria should remain adaptable to different classroom contexts and teaching approaches. By refining assessment design, this study seeks to support teachers in creating valid performance assessments and ensuring meaningful feedback that enhances student learning.
