이 연구는 장애 형제를 둔 비장애 형제자매의 경험을 체계적으로 도출하고, 이들을 위한 지원 방안을 탐구하기 위해 질적 연구에 대한 메타분석을 실시하였다. 2007년부터 2024년까지 발표된 총 12편의 분석 대상 질적 연구의 일반적 특징 및 비장애 형제자매의 경험과 지원 요구를 종합적으로 검토하였다. 자료 분석은 개별 연구의 이해 및 분석, 범주화 및 분석, 그리고 종합 해석 및 논의 사항 도출의 단계로 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 비장애 형제자매는 장애 형제와의 관계에서 심리적 어려움과 정체성 혼란을 경험하며, 가족 내 역할 갈등과 과중한 책임감으로 인해 정서적 부담을 겪는 것으로 나타났다. 동시에 높은 공감 능력, 문제 해결 능력, 그리고 책임감 등 긍정적 특성을 발달시킬 가능성도 확인되었다. 비장애 형제자매들은 가족 내 정서적 부담과 심리적 갈등을 경험하지만, 가족의 정서적 지원과 사회적 관계를 통해 긍정적으로 성장할 수 있었다. 특히, 가족 기능이 이들의 삶의 질에 중요한 영향을 미치며, 심리상담, 또래지원, 부모 교육 등 맞춤형 지원과 장애 인식 개선이 필요함을 강조하였다. 이 연구는 장애 형제의 형제자매를 대상으로 한 질적 연구를 분석하여, 형제자매가 겪는 삶을 총체적으로 이해하고 이들의 긍정적 잠재력을 발견하고, 이를 바탕으로 체계적이고 효과적인 지원 방안을 제안하였다.
This study investigates the experiences of non-disabled siblings of individuals with disabilities and the support they need through a meta-analysis of 12 qualitative studies published between 2007 and 2024. The analysis proceeded by reviewing and understanding individual studies, categorizing their data, and synthesizing findings into an integrated interpretation. The findings indicate that these siblings often encounter psychological challenges and identity confusion in their relationships with their disabled siblings, along with burdens arising from family role conflicts and excessive responsibilities. At the same time, the study suggests that Siblings of Individual with disabilities may develop positive traits-including heightened empathy, problem-solving abilities, and a strong sense of responsibility-over time. It also emphasizes the key role of family functioning and advocates for tailored support strategies such as psychological counseling, peer support programs, and parental education initiatives, as well as efforts to improve societal awareness of disabilities. This meta-analysis thereby provides a comprehensive understanding of both the challenges and the positive potential of these siblings, offering systematic and effective recommendations for support.
