The Compulsory Education Chinese Curriculum Standards (2022 Edition) emphasizes that Chinese language curriculum content should be organized and presented through task groups, with each group designed to be situational, practical, and integrated. Project-Based Learning (PBL), which is grounded in the theory of “learning by doing,” aligns well with the integrative, practical, and humanistic nature of the Chinese curriculum. The red culture units in the nationally unified Chinese textbooks contain rich educational value. However, due to the temporal distance from historical events, students often struggle to relate to the content, resulting in superficial learning outcomes. As a concrete and expressive instructional method, textbook drama allows students to approach revolutionary figures and understand their spirit through the creation and performance of adapted stories. This facilitates the internalization of values and promotes the educational goal of “unity of knowledge and action.” Therefore, textbook drama offers a feasible and effective approach to red culture education in primary school Chinese instruction.
