Currently, generative artificial intelligence represented by DeepSeek, with its native technological advantages and discourse expression, offers broad prospects for the reform of ideological and political theory courses. Leveraging the technical strengths of DeepSeek, such as digital empowerment and algorithm-driven recommendations, in the teaching of An Outline of Modern Chinese History can help counter the infiltration of historical nihilism and enhance the effectiveness of the course. In practice, it is essential to adhere to value principles that unify political and ideological orientation, value rationality and instrumental rationality, as well as technology application and governance. To this end, DeepSeek’s role in driving reform and innovation in the teaching, learning, and nurturing aspects of the course should focus on utilizing the classroom as the main channel to build an empathetic intelligent teaching model. Additionally, emphasis should be placed on DeepSeek’s role as an “intelligent learning companion” to enhance students’ innovative capabilities. By employing generative AI tools, a new “AI+” ideological and political education ecosystem can be shaped, fostering an open, shared, and personalized educational paradigm.
