Text Mining-Based Analysis of Viewer Comments on Virtual Taekwondo

This study aims to analyze public perception and interest in Virtual Taekwondo by examining viewer comments on videos posted on the YouTube channels of the World Taekwondo (WT) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) from 2021 to 2024. A total of 419 comments were collected and analyzed using text mining techniques, including word frequency, degree centrality, TF-IDF, N-gram, and LDA topic modeling. The analysis revealed that keywords such as “Taekwondo”, “game”, “sport”, “Olympics”, and “real” were of high significance, indicating public expectations of Virtual Taekwondo as a hybrid content that blends traditional sports with digital technology. Comments also reflected a broad range of opinions on the competition format, technological application, training tools, and the expansion potential of Virtual Taekwondo i nto esports. Overall, the findings suggest that Virtual Taekwondo holds significant potential for institutionalization and commercialization, positioning it as a promising next-generation digital sport.
