시간의 공간화, 공간의 시간화 - 사진과 영화에서 시공간의 구체성과 현실성

Space in Time, Time in Space

사진은 객관적 시간 장치를 통해 생산된다. 그러나 셔터에 의해 포착된 시간들은 모두 단편적인 흔적으로서만 존재하며, 현실의 사건들은 사진 안에 단지 무시간적으로 존재한다. 공간의 단편적인 나열인 사진이 시간의 의미를 부여받는 것은 주관적 시간 속에 존재하는 기억의 작용에 의해서이다. 시간에 대한 풍부한 이해를 바탕으로 한 기억에 의해서만 사진은 이제 비로소 이야기를 할 수 있고, 시간성을 드러내는 것이다. 영화의 경우, 정적인 이미지로부터 출발하여 끊임없이 움직이며 심지어 가속화되어 실제와는 다른 세계를 보여줌으로써 실제 세계의 시공차원을 변화시킬 수 있다. 이러한 시간의 공간화와 공간의 시간화는 영화를 가장 생동력 있는 표현예술로 만들어 주는 것이다. 따라서 정적인 차원에서의 사진을 특유의 시간적 진행을 통해서 스크린이라는 공간에 사상과 관념이라는 비물질적인 질료를 부여하여 전혀 새로운 통일체를 구성하는 영화와 같은 차원에서 비교할 수 없는 것이다. 결국 사진이 영화를 영원히 모방할 수 없는 것은 특유의 시공간의 결합을 통해서 시간적이고 정신적 매체로 성장하였다는 점이다. 그리고 영화가 현대의 여러 예술 양식 가운데 가장 중요한 이유는 바로 이와 같은 움직임을 통한 시공간의 변환에 있는 것이다.

Photos make through objectical time. But Time that captured by shutter is being all fragmentary traces, events of the actual is being in photos only timeless. Photos that fragmentary arrangement of space is endowed by prcess of memories in subjective time. In grounds of plenty understands about time, time can talking and expose characters of time. In case of Film, it start from static image, moving endless to another world, change time-space dimension of real world. So this time in space, space in time make film as lively expressive arts. So photos in statis dimensions can not compare with film that in screen through characteristic timely process, endowed immaterial matter as idea and concepts, compose asolute different world. Finally photos can not imitate film that through characteristic combination of time-space, grow up spiritual media. So film is important art, because it exposes moving and variety exchanges in time-space.
