중등학교 교사들이 지각하는 진로상담 역량: 진로교육 경험이 있는 현직 교사들의 경험을 중심으로

Exploring Perceived Career Counseling Competencies of Secondary School Teachers: Focusing on the Experiences of In-service Teachers with Career Education Experience

본 연구는 고교학점제와 같은 교육 환경의 변화 속에서 중등학교 교사들이 진로교육 현장에서 필수적이라고 지각하는 진로상담 역량의 본질과 구조를 심층적으 로 탐색하는 데 목적을 둔다. 이를 위해 진로교육 경험이 있는 현직 중·고등학교 교사 15명을 대상으로 심층 면담을 실시하고, 그들의 생생한 경험을 질적 사례분석 방법으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 교사들이 지각하는 진로상담 역량은 ‘진로진학 상담 이론 지식’, ‘청소년 특성 이해’의 지식 영역, ‘진로진학상담수행’, ‘정보 탐색 및 네트 워크 형성’의 기술 영역, ‘태도·개인적 자질’의 태도 영역으로, 총 5가지 상위 주제로 구조화되었다. 특히, ‘태도·개인적 자질’의 영역을 통해 학생에 대한 존중, 자기 성찰, 협력적 자세 등 교사의 내면적 가치를 바탕으로 다른 모든 지식과 기술의 실천을 가능할수 있도록 도와야함을 교사들의 경험을 통해 확인되었다. 본 연구는 현직 교사 들의 경험에 기반하여 진로상담 역량의 다층적이고 통합적인 개념 모델을 제시함으로 써, 기존의 단편적 역량 논의를 넘어 교사 연수 프로그램 개발 및 정책 수립에 실질적 이고 구체적인 시사점을 제공한다는 점에서 의의를 갖는다.

This study explores the essential career counseling competencies for secondary school teachers amidst educational changes, such as the high school credit system. Based on qualitative case studies of 15 in-service teachers, the findings identify five core competencies across three domains: knowledge (Career & Admissions Counseling Theory, Understanding of Adolescent Characteristics), skills (Counseling Performance, Information Seeking & Networking), and attitude (Attitude & Personal Qualities). Notably, ‘Attitude & Personal Qualities’ emerged as a foundational competency; values such as respect for students, self-reflection, and a collaborative mindset were found to enable the practical application of all other knowledge and skills. The study presents a multi-layered, integrated conceptual model of these competencies, offering concrete implications for teacher training and policy that move beyond previous fragmented discussions.
