This study examined the impact of mobile-based Korean reading instruction on learners’ reading proficiency and affective factors. A ten-week intervention was conducted with 52 beginner and intermediate Korean language learners from three universities, using the TTMIK Stories application. Reading proficiency was measured through pre- and post-surveys and TOPIK reading tests. Results indicated significant improvement in reading proficiency, particularly among intermediate learners. Mobile-assisted reading also enhanced learners’ confidence in language use and fostered positive attitudes toward mobile learning, with many participants expressing a preference for continuing language study through mobile platforms. Despite these benefits, learners reported a continued need for instructor involvement in reading education, underscoring the importance of teachers’ roles. These findings support the integration of mobile-based reading instruction into Korean language education and provide implications for the design of future Korean reading applications.
