This paper examines learners' overall perceptions of ChatGPT by applying it in an English Literature class. The key findings are as follows. First, most learners expressed satisfaction with the explanations and answers provided by ChatGPT. Second, they were generally pleased with both the content and format of its suggestions, noting that ChatGPT offered new perspectives and helped deepen their understanding of discussions and literary works. Third, learners also recognized that some explanations were occasionally inaccurate, misaligned with the content, or contained potential errors. As shown in this study, while learners responded positively overall, they also pointed out issues—particularly errors—that impact ChatGPT’s reliability.
