Art Makeup Styling Using Image-Generative AI: Focusing on Kandinsky's Artwork

This study aimed to explore the creative potential and artistic significance of using image-generative AI in art makeup. By analyzing the pictorial principles of Wassily Kandinsky, a pioneer of 20th-century abstract art, this research examines how generative AI can be integrated into art makeup design. Specifically, it investigates the fusion of point, line, and plane composition principles with symbolic color expression while assessing the role and aesthetic impact of AI in the creative process. Beyond functioning as a mere auxiliary tool, generative AI broadens the scope of artistic experimentation and enhances visual expression. Four art makeup works were developed using AI-generated imagery, effectively replicating textures, spatial depth, and dynamic color interactions that are difficult to achieve with traditional makeup techniques. The findings suggest that AI-based image generation technologies can elevate makeup from mere aesthetic adornment to a form of artistic expression with pictorial and sculptural qualities. Additionally, the integration of AI in makeup design opens new possibilities for visual exploration, positioning makeup as a vital component of contemporary artistic experimentation. This study also discusses how the convergence of makeup, painting, and digital technology contributes to shaping new paradigms in visual arts. Ultimately, it targets to deepen the academic discourse on the evolving role of AI in artistic creation.
