『孔子聖迹之圖碑』 硏究

A study on the Stele of Confucius' Sacred Sites

중국 고대의 가장 위대한 사상가이며 교육자로 추앙받는 공자를 그린 그림들은 일찍이 漢나라 때부터 시작되었으나, 대부분이 단편적인 사건을 그렸거나 孔子의 影幀을그린 것이었다. 『孔子聖蹟圖』는 孔子의 생애 중 의미 있는 사건들을 뽑아 여러 장으로 그린 일종의 위인 그림책 또는 위인 그림 두루마리라고 할 수 있다. 어지럽고 암담한 정치 상황 속에서도 결코 좌절하거나 낙심하지 않았던 孔子의 삶을 배우라는 鑑戒의 목적으로 시작된 『孔子聖蹟圖』는 안타깝게도 그 原作이 유실되어 정확한 내용을 고찰할 수 없고, 세상에 전해지는 것들은 聖畫나 玩賞物로 변질된 改作物들이었다. 최근 명나라 張楷가 창시한 石刻 『孔子聖蹟圖』의 草本이 세상에 모습을 드러냈지만, 그 불완전함으로 인해 原作의 復原에는 그리 큰 도움이 되지 못하였다. 이에 本稿는 草本의 문제점을 적시하고, 張楷의 原作과 倪甫英의 重刻本 그리고 그 重刻本을 보충한 方正范의 補刻本의 관계를 확인하며, 原作의 최종 복제물인 『孔子聖迹 之圖碑』의 내용을 분석하여, 사라진 原作과 불완전한 草本의 내용을 복원하고자 하였다.

The paintings of Confucius, the greatest philosopher and educator in ancient China, began as early as the Han Dynasty, but most of them depicted a single event or a portrait of Confucius. Unlike these paintings, The Holy Story of Confucius(『孔子聖迹圖』) is a picture book or scroll depicting the life story of the great man Confucius. The intention of Zhang Kai’s(張楷) original work is to encourage people to learn how to never give up or be discouraged by Confucius' actions and behaviors even in turbulent and dangerous political situations. Unfortunately, the original work has been lost and it is impossible to determine what content it contains. What has been passed down are artworks that have been transformed into sacred paintings or precious works of art. Recently, relevant units have discovered the underdrawing of the original work, but due to its incomplete content, it does not provide much help for the restoration of the original work. Although it's not as well known, The Stele of Confucius' Sacred Sites(『孔子聖迹之圖碑』) in the Suzhou Museum of stone inscription, which can be said to be the last and most reliable replica of Zhang Kai's original work. Therefore, this article identifies the problems with the draft manuscript, examines the relationship between Zhang Kai's original work, Ni Fuying's(倪甫英) replica, and Fang Zhengfan's(方正范) supplementary carving, analyze the contents of the original's final reproduction, The Stele of Confucius' Sacred Sites, in order to restore the contents of the lost original and incomplete manuscript.
