A Study on Furniture Design Utilizing Geometric Forms : Focusing on Asymmetrical Balance

The purpose of this study is to propose furniture that can function as an objet through two design elements: shape(geometric three-dimensional figure) and color. To this end, the three-dimensional shapes were arranged based on the principle of asymmetrical balance, and the colors were expressed according to the principle of similar harmony. For actual production, a 1:1 model was printed using a 3D printer, and then Korean lacquer(Ottchil), a traditional Korean coloring technique, was applied. Through this process, the study confirmed the possibility that furniture can function as an objet that enhances the atmosphere of a living environment while simultaneously performing the role of a useful tool.
