단청의 연화문을 응용한 캐릭터 피규어 디자인 연구

A Study on Character Figure Design Utilizing the Lotus Pattern of Dancheong

This study aims to develop a character figure utilizing traditional dancheong patterns. Dancheong is a valuable cultural heritage that preserves the Korean aesthetic and is characterized by color gradation and unique patterns. The researcher used the flat lotus flower pattern as a motif for the character design. In addition, the body proportions were expressed through super deformation, resulting in a form with a large head and short arms and legs. Based on this, the researcher produced a Korean character figure that moves beyond a two-dimensional form and emphasizes a sense of three-dimensionality. This study is significant in establishing a direction for creative character design and the design of cultural products based on dancheong.
