A Study on the Revitalization Plan for Urban Waterfront Spaces Based on the Concept of Vernacular Design

In today's era of rapid globalization and urbanization, this study explores solutions from the perspective of local culture to address issues such as ecological destruction, homogenization, and lack of vitality in urban waterfront spaces, and constructs an urban waterfront space design model that takes local culture into account. Theoretically, it fills the academic gap in the visual expression of cultural values; practically, it verifies the applicability of the proposed design model through the case study of the waterfront of the Dandong Yalu River. The design model presented in this study has universality and flexibility, making it applicable to scenarios such as the regeneration of existing urban waterfront spaces and the construction of new urban waterfront spaces. It not only provides replicable cases for urban waterfront space planning but also offers solutions to the localization innovation of global waterfront space design theories through case studies.
