교육의 현실과 교육학의 역할 - 학문적 위기에 대한 문제 인식

The Reality of Education and the Role of Education as a Science - Perception toward the Problem of Academic Crisis

교육학은 엄연한 실천 학문이다. 학교 교육이라는 제도와 교육 현상 일반을 총칭하는 교육태(敎育態)는 교육학이 탐구해야 하는 연구 실제이다. 교육학은 여기서 발생하는 각종 문제에 대한 해법도 제시해야 한다. 이에 본 논문은 교육학이 교육의 문제 혹은 현실에 대한 적합한 해법을 제시하거나 능동적으로 대응하였는지에 물음에 답하고자 한다. 학으로서 교육학은 인문학적 기반에서 출발하였지만, 급격한 사회 과학으로의 변모를 통해 잃어버린 측면도 적지 않다. 그래서 심지어 당면한 현장의 문제 해결에 도움을 줄 만한 처방만을 제공하고 있다는 점에서 ‘유사(類似) 경영학’으로 변질되었다는 지적도 없지 않다. 불행하게도 오늘날 교육학은 교육 문제의 중층성 및 복잡성에 대항하기에 불리한 조건과 한계를 안고 있다. 논문에서는 교육학의 학문적 전개 과정에 대한 역사적 인식과 교육학의 학문적 연구 관행에 대한 비판적 문제의식에서 출발하고자 한다. 이에 교육학 분야에서 드러난 부정적인 징후들을 기술하고, 그 원인에 대한 진단과 분석을 통해 문제 해결의 제언을 하고자 한다. 교육학에 대한 비판적 접근은 철저히 내부로부터의 자기반성에 기초하고 있기에 교육학자 그 누구도 그러한 비판으로부터 자유롭지만은 않다.

The Science of education is a practical discipline. Education, which collectively refers to the system of school education and the phenomenon of education, is a research practice that educational science should explore. This thesis attempts to answer the question of whether educational science has presented or actively responded to the problems or realities of education. As a science, education started from a humanistic foundation, but it has also been lost its identities through the transformation into a rapid social science. Therefore, it is pointed out that it has been transformed into a similar business administration in that it provides only prescriptions that can help solve problems in the field. Unfortunately, education has unfavorable conditions and limitations to counter the multiplicity and complexity of educational problems. Starting from the historic analysis of education and the critical perspectives, this thesis describes the negative symptoms revealed in the field of education, and proposes a solution to the problem through diagnosis and analysis of the causes. The critical approach to educational science is based on self-reflection from the inside of the academic community, so no scholar in the educational field is free from such criticism.
