This paper analyzes the differences between Chinese and American diplomatic concepts and their deep-rooted causes from three dimensions: theoretical origin, historical evolution and realistic considerations. At the ideological level, Chinese diplomacy is based on the international principles of Marxism and emphasizes peaceful coexistence and common development, while American diplomacy is deeply influenced by the Christian “Messiah” complex and tends to export values to the world. At the historical level, China adheres to the peaceful tradition of “Harmony” and focuses on good-neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation, whereas the United States is dominated by expansionist policies and maintains its geopolitical superiority through unilateralism and pre-emptive strikes. In reality, China advocates the building of a community with a shared future for mankind and promotes multilateralism and inclusive development, while the United States adopts protectionism and technological embargoes in an attempt to consolidate its global dominance. The study shows that the formation of the diplomatic concepts of the two countries is deeply influenced by their respective mainstream ideas, cultural traditions and practical needs, and that they need to strengthen communication and cooperation in order to jointly address global challenges in the future.
