Terminology of traditional Chinese clothing not only names the forms and structures of garments but also carries profound historical and cultural information as well as national aesthetic connotations. Communicative translation theory emphasizes the acceptability and communicative effect of the target text in the target-language context, advocating that translators should fully consider the linguistic habits and cultural background of target readers to achieve effective transmission of information. Using communicative translation theory as the research framework, this paper analyzes translation cases of traditional Chinese clothing terminology to explore the applicability and specific strategies of the theory in cross-cultural communication. The study finds that when translating traditional Chinese clothing terminology, flexible strategies such as amplification and cultural substitution can be applied to preserve cultural connotations while meeting the comprehension needs of target readers, thereby enhancing the acceptability and communicative effect of the terminology. This paper argues that communicative translation theory not only helps bridge cultural differences in the translation of clothing terminology but also improves the communicative function and acceptance of the target text. The study provides reference strategies for the translation of Chinese clothing-related texts and promotes the international dissemination of Chinese clothing culture.
中国传统服饰术语不仅是对服饰形态与结构的命名,更承载着深厚的历史文化信息与民族审美意蕴。交际翻译理论强调译文在目的语语境中的可接受性与交际效果,主张译者应充分考虑译文读者的语言习惯与文化背景,从而实现信息的有效传递。本文以交际翻译理论为研究框架,通过分析中国传统服饰术语的翻译案例,探讨该理论在跨文化传播中的适用性与具体策略。本研究发现,在翻译中国传统服饰术语时,可以灵活运用增译和文化替换等翻译策略,以在保持文化内涵的同时兼顾目的语读者的理解需求,增强术语的可接受性与传播效果。本文论证了交际翻译理论在服饰术语翻译中不仅有助于弥合文化差异,还能提升译文的交际功能与接受度。本研究有助于为中国服饰类文本提供翻译策略参考,同时推动中国服饰文化的国际传播。
