중소도시 대학생의 지역 정주요건과 지역 정주의도 간의 관계: 지역 창업의도의 매개효과를 중심으로

The Mediating Effect of Local Entrepreneurial Intention on the Relationship between Settlement Conditions and Settlement Intention among Small City University Students

본 연구는 중소도시에 거주하는 대학생을 대상으로 이들이 인식하는 지역 정주요건이 지역 정주의도에 미치는 영향을 분석하고, 이 과정에서 지역 창업의도가 매개변수로서 어떠한 역할을 수행하는지를 실증적으로 검토하였다. 연구에서는 정주요건을 정서적 요인, 경제적 요인, 환경적 요인으로 구분하였으며, 각 요인이 지역 창업의도와 지역 정주의도에 미치는 영향을 다중회귀분석 및 매개효과 분석을 통해 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 세 가지 정주요건 모두가 지역 정주의도에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 지역 창업의도 또한 정주의도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 동시에 정주요건과 정주의도 간의 관계에서 매개효과를 수행하는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 청년층의 지역 정주를 유도하기 위해 단순한 거주 여건의 개선을 넘어서, 창업을 통한 자아실현과 경제활동 기반을 마련할 수 있는 종합적 전략이 필요함을 시사한다. 본 연구는 청년의 지역 정주의도에 영향을 미치는 구조적 경로를 제시함으로써, 청년 정착과 지역 창업을 연계한 실천적 정책 설계의 기초자료로 활용될 수 있다는 점에서 이론적·정책적 의의를 갖는다.

This study empirically examines the influence of local settlement conditions on the settlement intentions of university students residing in small and medium-sized cities in Korea, and investigates the mediating role of local entrepreneurial intention in this relationship. Local settlement conditions were categorized into emotional, economic, and environmental factors, and their effects on both entrepreneurial intention and settlement intention were analyzed using multiple regression and mediation analysis. The findings reveal that all three settlement condition factors have a significant positive effect on local settlement intention. Furthermore, local entrepreneurial intention not only directly influences settlement intention but also mediates the relationship between settlement conditions and settlement intention. These results suggest that strategies to encourage youth to remain in local areas should go beyond improving living conditions and instead foster opportunities for self-realization through entrepreneurship and economic participation. This study contributes to theoretical understanding by identifying a structural pathway influencing youth settlement behavior and offers practical implications for designing integrated policies that promote youth settlement and local entrepreneurship.
