국제유가에 대한 국내 운송용 유류가격의 지역별 비대칭성과 소비자비용 추정

Regional Asymmetries in the Response of Domestic Transportation Fuel Prices to International Oil Prices and Consumer Cost Estimation

본 연구는 국제유가 변동에 따른 국내 운송용 유류 가격의 지역별 비대칭성을 분석하고, 이러한비대칭적 가격 조정이 소비자에게 초래하는 비용을 추정하였다. 비대칭 오차수정모형과 누적조정함수를 이용하여 전국 16개 지역의 휘발유와 경유 가격을 분석한 결과, 모든 경우에서 국제유가 변동에대한 비대칭적 가격 조정을 확인하였다. 그리고 전 지역에서 경유보다 휘발유의 비대칭도가 높게나타났으며, 지역별 비대칭도 수준은 차등적으로 나타났다. 운송용 유류 가격의 비대칭적 조정 원인을 탐구한 결과, 휘발유는 사후정산 관행으로 인해, 그리고 경유는 탐색비용으로 인해 비대칭성이발생하는 것을 밝혔다.

This study examines regional asymmetry in domestic transportation fuel prices in response to fluctuations in international oil prices and quantifies the consumer costs associated with these asymmetric price adjustments. Employing an asymmetric error correction model and a cumulative adjustment function, this study analyzes gasoline and diesel prices across 16 regions nationwide. The findings confirm the presence of asymmetric price adjustments in all cases, with gasoline exhibiting a higher degree of asymmetry than diesel across all regions. Moreover, the extent of asymmetry varies by region. Analyzing the underlying causes, the study identifies that, for gasoline, asymmetry stems from ex-post settlement practices, whereas, for diesel, search costs contribute to the observed asymmetry.
