서원의 진정성 있는 활용

진정성 있는 문화유산의 활용은 단순한 관광자원 개발을 넘어 문화유산이가진 본래의 역사문화적 가치를 보존하고 이를 통해 사람들에게 의미 있는 경험을 제공하는 것을 의미한다. 이를 위해서는 무엇보다 문화유산과 직간접적으로 관련성을 가진 공동체, 전문가, 행정당국 등이 협력하여 유산의 가치를재정립하고 현대사회에 맞게 새로운 의미와 역할을 부여하는 것이 무엇보다중요하다. 서원은 전통사회의 문화유산 요소를 두루 갖추고 있을 뿐만 아니라 미래 성장동력이라고 할 수 있는 문화자원의 총아라고 할 수 있다. 서원의 배향자를위시하여, 서원의 건립과 사액 및 복설 등의 과정에서 등장하는 여러 인적 네트워크를 필두로 두각을 나타내는 유형의 문화유산뿐만 아니라 무형, 민속, 기록유산에 이르기까지 광의의 문화자원 소재를 두루 섭렵하고 있기 때문이다. 한편 현대 사회의 급격한 변화는 문화 유산과 자원의 활용 인식에 있어서도 커다란 변화를 수반하였다. 이에 따라 문화자원으로서 서원의 가치 또한그 의미를 전파할 수 있는 요건을 갖추고 있으면서 일반적인 평가가 여타의 문화유산에 비해 잘 알려지지 않았음에도 불구하고 문화 원형의 보존, 디지털자료의 저장, 접근의 고도화 등으로 인해 문화의 소비 패턴 변화에 능동적으로 적응할 수 있는 공간임이 확인되었다. 서원의 활용의 진정성은 현실적 한계를 냉정하게 자각하고 구조적으로 타파할 수 있는 해결방안을 모색하면서 자생적 생태 환경을 구축함으로 인해 더욱 공고해질 것이고 이는 서원이 가진 원래의 정신인 ‘성리학 교육’과 ‘선현배향’의 가치를 보존하면서, 현대 사회와 소통할 수 있는 새로운 의미를 부여하는 것을 통해 완성될 것이다.

The use of authentic cultural heritage means preserving the original historical and cultural value of cultural heritage beyond the development of tourism resources and providing meaningful experiences to people through this. To do so, it is of paramount importance that communities, experts, and administrative authorities who are directly or indirectly related to cultural heritage cooperate to redefine the value of heritage and give it new meaning and role to suit modern society. Seowon is not only equipped with all the elements of cultural heritage in the traditional society, but it can be said to be the child of cultural resources that can be said to be a future growth engine. This is because it encompasses a wide range of cultural resources, ranging from intangible, folk, and documentary heritage, as well as prominent types of cultural heritage, starting with the person who is oriented to seowon, and various human networks that emerge in the process of establishing and reconstructing seowon. On the other hand, rapid changes in modern society have also accompanied significant changes in the perception of cultural heritage and resource utilization. Accordingly, the value of seowon as a cultural resource also has the requirements to spread its meaning, and despite the fact that general evaluation is not well known compared to other cultural heritages, it has been confirmed that it is a space that can actively adapt to changes in cultural consumption patterns, such as preservation of original culture, storage of digital data, and advancement of access. The authenticity of the use of seowon will be strengthened by establishing a self-sustaining ecological environment while seeking solutions that can coolly recognize realistic limitations and structurally break them down, which will be completed by giving a new meaning to communicate with modern society while preserving the value of seowon's original spirit, Neo-Confucianism Education and Sunhyun Orientation.
