Objectives: This study targeted dental hygiene students to confirm the influence of subjective happiness and smartphone overdependence on college life adaptation. Methods: The research subjects consisted of 217 dental hygiene students. The data were collected from October 1 to 15, 2024. The data were subjected to a t-test, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 20.0. Results: The results showed the factors affecting dental hygiene students’ college life adaptation in the following order: subjective happiness (β = .366, p <.001), academic major satisfaction (β = .351, p <.001), and smartphone overdependence (β = .366, p <.001). The total explanatory power of these variables accounted for 85.099%. Conclusions: Subjective happiness, smartphone overdependence, and academic major satisfaction were identified as influential factors on the college life adaptation of dental hygiene students. Accordingly, it is necessary to develop and operate a program for promoting subjective happiness, strengthening academic major satisfaction, and preventing smartphone overdependence to enhance adjustment to college life.
