Learning Effects Before and After Using Virtual Reality Media in Dental Radiology and Practice Education

Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the learning effects of virtual reality-based dental radiology practice for dental hygiene students. Methods: A total of 39 students participated in the second semester of 2020, and pre- and post-surveys were conducted to evaluate their learning interest, engagement, self-efficacy, satisfaction, and academic achievement. Results: Significant improvements were found in learning interest, engagement, and self-efficacy (p<.05), along with high levels of satisfaction and achievement. Conclusions: These results suggest that VR enhances immersion and self-directed learning, and effectively supports clinical adaptability. Thus, VR-based education can be a valuable tool to improve the quality of dental hygiene education.
